Kenner cops say evidence they found in the search of a suspect's home directly links him to murders at motels along Veterans Blvd.
Police say they found "trophies" from the killings at the Comfort Suites in Kenner and the Laquinta in Metairie. Some killers keep something that belonged to their victims, or from the scene as a memento of the murder.
Sources tell WWL First News that detectives also found evidence of other crimes. They intend to share their findings with other agencies to see if they can link the man to killings in other jurisdictions and determine if they may be dealing with a serial killer.
Investigators say both of the victims killed in the motels along Veterans Blvd. had a history of prostitution.
Police say the suspect, Keylan M. Laurent of Vacherie, jumped into the Mississippi River Tuesday after a chase with Louisiana State Police. Troopers say he fell some 180 feet before hitting the water. They have been looking for him since.
